History:

Charles Eames began with the development of so-called Aluminium Group in 1955.

After three years of work the first prototypes of the "Leisure Group" were published in 1958. Only in 1969, the variants emerged with additional padding pockets (soft pad).

Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier (1887 – 1965), eigentlich Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, war ein Architekt, Maler, Zeichner, Stadtplaner, Bildhauer und Möbeldesigner schweizerisch-französischer Abstammung.

Zu seinen bekanntesten Werken im Bereich Möbeldesign gelten der Stuhl Basculant LC1, der Sessel LC2, das Sofa LC3, der Chaise longue LC4, das Sofa LC5, der Esstisch LC6 und der Drehstuhl LC7.

Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Architekten und Designer des 20. Jahrhunderts. Das Pseudonym Le Corbusier entstand in Anlehnung an seinen Urgroßvater und seinen Lehrmeister Charles l'Eplattenier.
