History

The Brno chair (model number MR50) is a modern variant of the cantilever chair designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, which was developed in 1929-1930 for the bedroom of the Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic.

It is based on ancient designs of Mies van der Rohe and his long-time colleague Lilly Reich, such as the MR20.

Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier (1887 – 1965), eigentlich Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, war ein Architekt, Maler, Zeichner, Stadtplaner, Bildhauer und Möbeldesigner schweizerisch-französischer Abstammung.

Zu seinen bekanntesten Werken im Bereich Möbeldesign gelten der Stuhl Basculant LC1, der Sessel LC2, das Sofa LC3, der Chaise longue LC4, das Sofa LC5, der Esstisch LC6 und der Drehstuhl LC7.

Er gilt als einer der bedeutendsten Architekten und Designer des 20. Jahrhunderts. Das Pseudonym Le Corbusier entstand in Anlehnung an seinen Urgroßvater und seinen Lehrmeister Charles l'Eplattenier.
