Stam, Mart

Mart Stam (1899-1986) war ein niederländischer Architekt und Designer.

Sein Stil wird als "Neue Sachlichkeit" bezeichnet. Dieser Begriff beschreibt eine Kunstrichtung, die in den 1920er Jahren in Deutschland entstanden und gilt als eine Gegenbewegung des Expressionismus.

1926 erfand und entwarf er den ersten Freischwinger. Stam kehrte im Jahre 1934 in die Niederlande und wurde 1939 Direktor des Instituts für kulturelle Bildung in Amsterdam.
